Good morning, everyone. I currently have a 2.4.x Play application I was thinking about upgrading to a more current version. I was curious whether there were any plans in the pipeline for a 3.0 release of Play. If so, I was thinking it may be better to wait until that version is settled in.
I don’t know the direct answer to your question, but if you are looking to upgrade, you will probably need to upgrade one minor version at a time anyway. If you skip over minor versions, there will simply be too many breaking changes, and all the upgrade docs assume that you are on the previous version, making the upgrade nearly impossible. I’ve been maintaining multiple Play projects since 2.2 and I’ve upgraded them all the way to 2.8 over the years, so I’d know.
